River Flow
Most rivers are measured in CFS (Cubic Feet per Second). The Middle Fork of the Salmon's flow is generally referred to in feet, not CFS, although this can be converted into CFS. The gauge used for this measurement is located across the river from the Middle Fork Lodge. The lodge is roughly 33 miles downstream of Boundary Creek (the typical launch point) and seven miles downstream of Indian Creek (an alternative launch).
Generally speaking, most trips launch "from the top" (Boundary Creek) when the gauge is between two and six feet. Above six feet and below two feet, the majority of groups tend to launch from Indian Creek.
